[samar]

Arabic

The word 'samar' stems from the root verb 'samara', meaning to chat with one another at night, to stay up late having pleasant conversation or to have an evening of entertainment, specifically including Arabic music and poetry.

Samar can also refer more generally to the night, evening or darkness, and, particularly in hot parts of the Arab world, is synonymous with the cool time of day during sundown and beyond where friends come together after the heat of the afternoon sun. Rather poetic in its nightly association, samar can also refer to the shade or dark side of the moon through its associations with the root verb 'samura', meaning to have a dark complexion or to brown.

Beautiful fragrance and packaging

This candle has such beautiful scent throw. The honey notes of the natural beeswax marry beautifully with the warm, resinous and spicy scent of Samar. It is truly evocative of a warm, summer night spent laughing and conversing with friends, with frankincense floating on the smoky midnight air. It is my go-to bath candle and I’ll definitely be purchasing a refill once it’s finished! I also love the crackle of the wood wick and the clean, non-toxic burn. Given the very high quality and organic ingredients you’ve used, this candle is really fantastic value, especially when compared to other ‘luxury’ brands on the market. I am a very satisfied customer!

I love my Samar. I specifically bought it because other candles give me headaches, but the scent of Samar is still strong, all-organic and smells expensive. I’ve had people commenting on the smell when they walk in the house as well, which is nice!
